Protodemon F.A.Q.s

1. Q: How big can you print my model?

A: We can pretty much build your model however big you want. The size/cost ratio will also depend somewhat on the geometry and design of your model. Generally, the best value is a model where the longest axis is approximately 8.5 inches. Feel free to use our instant quote calculator to get an estimate price, using your models dimensions.
2. Q: should I merge all the pieces of my model so that it's one object?

A: No. It's usually better if the pieces are separate in case we need to have more control when preparing your build. Just include each piece in your model file.
3. Q: What file format should I use?

A: Any file type is acceptable. We can convert your file in house. Our preference of file type goes .stl, .ztl, .mud, .obj (these four are all great for our pipeline), then .emdl, .scn, .ma, .mb, .lwo, then everything else.

4. Q: Why is my final quote more than the estimated quote generated from the quote calculator?

A: In some cases once we inspect an uploaded model, there is a huge amount of preparation required before a model can be printed. This will be explained on your order ticket before you are required to pay. If you follow the steps on the "preparing your model" page, these added charges can usually be avoided.

5. Q: Can you build my model in color using my existing texture map?

A: No. There is only one technology on the market that we are aware of that can print color, unfortunately the low resolution and surface quality of this technology make it unacceptable to our quality standards. Protodemon models are shipped a smooth light gray color so you can see every detail. Also, Protodemon models take paint beautifully without the need for any preparation.
6. Q: Can Protodemon paint my model?

A: Yes. Protodemon can paint your models for you. Please contact us for details, or include a paint request when placing your order.
7. Q: How do I obtain the dimensions required by the quote calculator?

A: The dimensions required by the quote calculator are the bounding box dimensions of your model. If you are unsure of these values, just enter the desired height when submitting your quote. You will receive a finalized price, at which time you can ask any other questions you might have before you are required to pay.

8. Q: What material will my model be made out of? Will it be fragile?

A: The material we use is a robust polymer, similar to hard plastic. The material is lightweight and strong with very high surface quality that can be handled without fear of damage. However if you drop your model on a hard surface it is likely to break.

9. Q: Do you charge extra if a model has accessories? I.E. a weapon.

A: No we do not charge for accessories. If the accessories are part of the build volume, then they are also included in the quoted price.

10. Q: Do you ship overseas?

A: Yes, we ship worldwide. The cost of shipping is not included in the build price. There are many shipping options depending on the needs of the client.
